Maritime Festival

Over the weekend, there was a celebration called Maritime Festival occurring at the Britannia Heritage Shipyard. There were lots of activities and entertainment to watch. The picture above shows a driftwood mandala. Not sure what that means, but my human participated as I watched from the side. I later found out that the purpose of this mandala was to wish the ocean, lakes and rivers a good health by placing a piece of driftwood inside.
Interestingly, there was a building full of these small boats inside! I don't get why the boats are so small, it doesn't seem like it could fit a person on it. Maybe it's for the cat next door? She's quite small so I have do doubt that's what it's used for!
Scattered around the area were these stage performers. Some of them would be talking about old stories about the people who use to reside in the area whereas others played instruments. My human looked interested in the performers with the instruments so I insisted that we stay for a bit longer and listen to this group. I have to admit, I have a pretty good ear for music as my human was very pleased with my selection.

Get the Sand off! Get it off!

To clear things up, I don't have an obsession with digging in the sand. The truth is, I'm trying to get the sand off my tennis ball. Have you ever tried chewing a ball covered in sand? I wouldn't try it if I were you, it's an uncomfortable feeling on your tongue and doesn't taste all that great.

Safety Comes First Update

Thank you everyone for your recommendations! This really helped my human and I find the right life jacket for me. In the end, we ended up going with Ruffwear's K9 float coat. It fits perfectly and had all the specifics my human was looking for.

It made my human happy that I was enjoying myself at the beach, even more so that I didn't mind that I was wearing a jacket. Truth be told, I kinda enjoyed wearing the life jacket. The human thinks that it's the vest that's helping me swim better, but I say it's because I'm just getting better! I was feeling so good that I dared another dog to have a swimming contest with me to see who would reach the tennis ball first! Guess who was the faster swimmer? Me!
I predict that I will be back at the beach lounging in the water in a few days, I can just feel it in my paws!!

[Bailey's swimming has improved a great deal, remember when she was younger and taking swimming lessons? Oh my....]

I'm a Little Teapot, Short and Stout

Bailey has moments when she truly believes she is a small puppy. In this instance, she heard the wrong instructions and proceeded to climb into the back seat. I guess the floor looked comfier because she didn't even try to jump onto the seat. Rather, she slowly climbed in and maneuvered herself carefully in-between the seats and a bag that's tucked underneath. Most surprisingly was when she tucked her tail not just inside the car, but underneath her leg so that it wouldn't wander away by itself!

[So sorry for the terrible quality picture!]

Safety Comes First

Lately, my human has been taking me shopping more frequently! However, she hasn't been buying me much stuff which is a bit odd because when I pull out my "look at my cute puppy eyes" look and count to 3 the human will always say "ok!". In the last couple of times we've been out, she's been making me try out these silly outfits! I don't know what's so special about them because they're bulky and non-edible. The human says that because I love to go swimming, but am getting older I will become tired quicker than before. So to protect me from fatigue I need a life jacket. Now the human and I have now come to an agreement, I will wear a life jacket ONLY if we go out for more swims at the dog beach. But here's where the human needs some help, she can't seem to decide which brand of life jackets for dogs is best for me. We've looked at brands such as Outward Hound, Ezy Dog, Canine Friendly and Ruff Wear. Does anyone have suggestions?

Renovated

So my hood has been going through some renovations in the past few months and during those times they blocked the entrance to the boardwalk. There is a prime location along the boardwalk where I like to enjoy eating a snack. On the other hand, my human eats at odd times so to keep her occupied while I eat, I have to bring a book for her (and she calls me the princess, the human is more demanding than I am!).
Well, the boardwalk finally opened a few weeks ago and it looks completely different from before. It looks great, lots of shade for dogs and best part is... they installed numerous dog benches! I definitely approve the new layout!

Anyone There?

Dear Mr. Breadman,

Did you know that I came to visit you a few days ago? I tried to look through the window to see if you were inside, but it was dark. I thought maybe if I called your name you would hear me, but there was still no answer. My human kept telling me you were away. However, I was convinced you were around somewhere and that you were just too busy to come out.
Even as my human tried to lead me away from your bakery I kept looking back to your bakery expecting to see you jump out! I even tried to persuade my human to stay five more minutes to wait for you, but she was growing impatient and was saying how bugs were going to eat her alive. I think she was lying about the bugs because I didn't see any around!

Hot Summer Days

How does Bailey stay cool on a hot summer day? With frozen yogurt of course! I've always given Bailey regular yogurt, but never thought to freeze it to make it into ice cream for her until now! It's easy to make, healthy and Bailey approved!
If you're thinking of making some for your special pup, a wise dog once told us that the key to spicing up plain frozen yogurt is to add a few pieces of treat or fruit.
