Winter Fun

When the snow finally came for a few days earlier this month, Bailey was so excited about the arrival that we went out to our yard in the middle of the night to play in the snow.

By morning, she couldn't wait to get back outside in the freezing cold! A few of her favourite things to do is to catch snowballs, tear down snow castles and make dog angels. Ever since Bailey was a pup, she has always believed that the snow shovel was a snowball toss machine. She would entice the shovel to play with her first. Then when it is filled with snow Bailey would back up and get ready for her pounce.

At times, I wonder if Bailey really wanted us to toss the snow at her because her expression in the picture above shows otherwise... It's as if she's saying "please, please don't hit the face!".

Chinese New Year

Gung Hei Fat Choi!! We wish everyone a very prosperous year of the dragon!

Bailey has already started the new year with a great start by receiving lots of red envelopes (all of which she will be spending on treats).

Christmas Fun

Sorry for not posting in awhile! Bailey and I have been stuffing our tummies full for the last couple of weeks, but now we've emerged from our food coma! We hope everyone had a lovely and wonderful Christmas and New Years with their loved ones.

Bailey had quite an exciting Christmas, she enjoyed helping us open every single present. It felt more like Bailey's birthday rather than Christmas. With four years of experience with wrapping paper, Bailey has developed an intricate system. She would tear a large piece of wrapping then run off to her tearing station and rip the paper into many little pieces. It's quite clever indeed, she would only tear the wrapping paper in one area as to not make a mess in other areas of the house. Funny thing, she knows the difference between regular paper and wrapping paper. For instance, a day or two after X-mas she found a piece of left over wrapping paper under the table and proceeded to have fun with it whereas on normal days when she comes over to my school desk she will leave my homework alone.

It took approximately two hours to finish unwrapping all the presents, and this year we didn't have that many either! Apparently unwrapping presents is such hard work that when we finished, she plopped immediately onto her bed and fell asleep right away. Being the mischeivious me that I am, I couldn't resist taking funny pictures of Bailey as she was trying to sleep.

Teddy Bear Love

When a berner is in a cuddle mode, you'll be unable to tear yourself away. I mean look at Bailey, half her body is on my lap and then she insists that I wrap one of my legs around her to make her feel safe. The one part I think Bailey is actually a human in a dog's body is when she hugs her teddy bear like a child.

Are You Done Yet?

Usually when I'm studying, I'll take breaks in between to cuddle or play with Bailey. But on days when I'm too concentrated, Bailey will trot over to my desk and place her snout on top of the table and sniff around to see what I am up to. And if that does not catch my attention, she'll nudge my arm with her nose and lay her head between the chair's arm rest and my arm. When I finally turn towards her, she'll tilt her head as if to say "Are you done yet? Can you come play?".

Personal Protection

After signing up with Bailey's personal security banking, I feel remarkably safer when I'm using an ATM! When we walk into a bank she will inspect the area for abnormalities. When everything looks okay, she would sit beside me and keep an eye on the people around me.

Not Your Typical Scale

Finally a sunny break during the weekend! The rain has kept us inside for a while and Bailey was excited to take her humans for a long, long walk around the village. During our lovely stroll, we see this unique looking scale with a welcoming note for anyone to step on. Curious to know how much Bailey weighs, we ask her to step on and pose for us. The image of a large dog on a scale caught the attention of many people, some even stopped to watch us take pictures of her! Are you curious to know how much Bailey weighs? She is 94 pounds!
